FARMINGTON HILLS, MI — On Thursday evening, Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service of Michigan, Inc. and its affiliate, Life Support Training Institute (LSTI), hosted a graduation ceremony at Corewell Health in Farmington Hills to celebrate 19 new emergency medical technician (EMT) graduates from LSTI’s Detroit and Taylor training facilities.

Each graduate has accepted a full-time position with Superior Ambulance, ensuring their training will immediately benefit communities across the region.

“Superior Ambulance is committed to creating career pathways in emergency medicine by working to train and hire talent from within the Detroit-area,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “This investment expands economic opportunity while ensuring our region has the skilled emergency professionals it needs. These graduates are launching careers that matter – to their families, to their community, and to public safety.”

Since March 2024, Superior and LSTI have bolstered Michigan’s emergency response capabilities through this workforce development initiative, whereby they train, equip, and hire local residents for critical EMS roles, helping strengthen emergency care across the state.

The ceremony was a reminder of the vital role these graduates will play as they bring their skills and dedication to Michigan’s EMS workforce.

Michigan State Senator Jeremy Moss (D-7) spoke at the graduation ceremony, wishing the newly certified EMTs long, impactful careers.

“I’m proud to congratulate these new EMTs as they step into a profession defined by service, skill, and compassion. Our communities depend on first responders in moments of crisis, and Michigan is stronger because of individuals who are willing to answer that call,” said Sen. Moss.

Michigan State Representative Jason Hoskins (D-18) was also in attendance, where he congratulated the graduates and recognized their commitment to public service.

“Today we recognize these graduates for making a commitment to serve others when it matters most. As newly certified EMTs, they are stepping into a vital role that demands dedication and heart, and our communities will be safer and stronger because they’re willing to answer the call.” said Rep. Hoskins.

Through its “Earn to Learn” program developed as part of its mission to grow homegrown talent and build a strong, community-based EMS workforce, Superior Ambulance guarantees employment to all graduates upon successful EMT certification. Once hired, full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement to advance their education, an incentive designed to reduce barriers to entry and support long-term career growth in EMS.
